Who was the client / what was the brief?
Academic Project
Prompt: Free range to create a motion design video between 3-5 minutes that includes music and/or voice overs. Music video, ad, etc.
The Role: What was your role (did you do everything end-to-end or did you provide an area of specialty)?
Role: Video editing, animation, character designs, writing. The video production was handled entirely by me, from concept to storyboards to editing.
I did have help in the voice acting department, as well as the music not being produced by me.
voice acting: Omar Bonilla, Esther Sierra, and Joshua Lepe
Problem, Insight, Solution
The big issue was time management, as it requires a lot of original assets that need to be drawn and designed for each cut of the video.Tight scheduling, it also meant I had to keep the video project in grayscale to avoid having to color each background and asset. The most time-consuming aspect of the project was lip syncing, which I avoided by completely removing lip syncing for a time.
Process:

The process for this assignment involved a lot of individual illustrations as well as adjusting time and syncing for voice acting. A very tedious process that results in basic motions, a big regret was not having the time to create lip syncing for every scene as it results in a lot of still frames, with " no action" which can slow momentum.
Results:
It’s a video, so there will be a link attached, as previously stated, it’s a motion comic. An original story by me. I want to finish the bits I couldn't finish, adding lip syncing, and some editing corrections but with the handful of weeks given and the amount of original assets that needed to be created I'm still satisfied with what I could do.

Reflection: How are you assessing the success of the project?
I feel proud that I was able to submit the project within the deadline and I did most of the tasks I wanted to do. It obviously isn’t to the level of quality I had expected it to be, but within the allowed time frame, I believe I did the best I could. I wish I could have done full lip sync, tighter editing, and possibilities of color.
